Summer Slaughter 2009

So I have just returned from Summer Slaughter 2009  (had to leave early due to injury)
So, I don't remember the first band that played so they won't be reviewed.
The second band that played was Blackguard. I thought they were really good. The lead guitar player has some very good technical skills, and this is also the first time that I have seen a band that has had a girl drummer (this is a compliment. she was fucking good as shit).
The next band was After The Burial. This is when the crowed really started to get involved. I'm not the biggest fan of After The Burial, but they do get the crowds going. Next was Beneath The Massacre. To be honest I did not see some of their set because I was outside smoking a cigarette, but for what I saw of it I enjoyed it. Then Origin played, I did not like them at all, so I have nothing to say about them. The last band I got to see before I got injured was Born of Osiris. They played some of their new shit at the show and I think that they should stick with playing more of their old songs. But I guess their playing the new songs was to promote their new album that comes out this july.

FRIDAY JUNE 19TH SHOW Pre-Review

Line Up:
ABACABB
FOR THE FALLEN DREAMS
STRAY FROM THE PATH

+ Locals
Location:
JAXX
6355 Rolling Road
Springfield, VA

Local heros, ABACABB (Alexandria, Virginia) (yes that's a reference to the "Blood Code" in Mortal Kombat II) are back in the area once a gain, this time with For The Fallen Dreams (Lansing, Michigan) and Stray From The Path (Long Island, New York).
From just a first listen at the bands that will be playing this should be a very entertaining show. ABACABB will be playing their heavy deathcore/hardcore and nothing else. For The Fallen Dreams has a style that seems to be closer to hardcore rather than metal, but does include some opportunities for 2-stepping. And finally, Stray From The Path seems to be straight up hardcore with a bit of technical skills from the guitars. I expect this show will have a very good turnout because the scene here in Northern Virginia supports the big local bands.
